The variety is autochthonous to the Goriška region in Slovenia and is the result of long-term folk selection. It is often compared to the Trevisan variety, noting shared morphological characteristics.
During cultivation and forcing, a direct correlation is observed between the size of the root crop and the weight of the final product. Under experimental conditions, with root diameters from 10 to 40 mm, the net weight of the resulting heads varied from 4.20 g to 72.75 g.
The variety is classified as a vegetable crop for forcing, rather than industrial root chicory for beverage production. Research also includes this variety among the subjects evaluated for resistance to powdery mildew.
