The plant forms large fleshy roots, externally resembling carrots. The variety is frost-resistant, however, studies note its susceptibility to certain soil pathogens.
Root crops are characterized by a high inulin content. The crop is used as industrial raw material, as well as for food (leaves in salads) and as a feed base for animals. Root decoctions are used for medicinal purposes in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver.
