The plant belongs to the salad chicory group and is not a root variety for producing coffee drinks. It forms dense, elongated, conical light-green heads, reaching 25–50 cm in length.
The vegetation period is about 90 days. Sowing is carried out from May to July, and harvesting from September to November. The crop is resistant to light frosts and has good keeping quality, remaining suitable for consumption until January-February.
The leaves have a nutty flavor with a bitterness characteristic of chicory, which decreases after frosts or heat treatment. The variety is used as a winter salad in fresh or cooked form.
