The variety is a spontaneous bud mutation of the Fina variety. The designation V.C.R. indicates that it belongs to certification and clonal selection programs, representing a virus-free clone of the plant. The tree is medium-sized, with an upright growth habit and lanceolate dark green leaves; thorns may be present on young shoots.

The fruits have a spherical, slightly flattened shape and dark orange skin that easily separates from the juicy, sweet-and-sour flesh. The variety is early-maturing, with harvest beginning in October. The fruits are typically seedless, but may contain seeds upon cross-pollination. The variety is self-pollinating and comes into bearing early.
