ActiveCitrus maxima x Citrus reticulata · Tangelo
HILDA SONIA DEL RIO/ELIEZER LOUZADA
10 August 2026
The tree of this variety is distinguished by a compact or dense crown, capable of reaching a height of 4.5–6 meters, and may have straight thorns on the branches. The fruit peel is yellow, often with a pink blush in areas where fruits touch or are shaded.
The flesh has a rich red color, which persists longer than in the parent variety. The taste is balanced, sweet-tart. The fruits contain few seeds or are nearly seedless.
The variety is highly sensitive to Citrus tristeza virus and Alternaria brown spot, therefore, the use of resistant rootstocks is recommended in commercial cultivation. Intended for fresh consumption, processing into juice, and container gardening.
