The variety is the result of a bud mutation of the Ruby variety tree, induced by radiation exposure of cuttings. The plant is characterized by strong growth and large size; when grown indoors, it can reach two meters.
The fruits are large, have a yellow peel, often with a pink or reddish blush, and dark red flesh. The taste qualities are distinguished by a harmonious combination of sugars and minimal bitterness. The variety is industrially significant, used for juice production and fresh consumption, as well as an ornamental crop.
