The variety is a hybrid of mandarin and grapefruit. It was developed through mutation breeding using gamma rays applied to the scions of the original Nova variety.

The main distinctive feature of the fruits is their seedlessness, where the number of seeds per fruit ranges from 0.8 to 1.16. In other respects, the fruits retain the properties of the classic Nova variety and are intended for fresh consumption.
