The variety is an ecotype of the 'Ovale Calabrese' cultivar and is grown in the Trebisacce area in Calabria. The trees are adapted to the local microclimate, protected from winds by mountains. The variety is characterized as non-navel, with fruits remaining on the tree until May, June, or July.

The fruits have an oval or slightly flattened shape, weighing about 180 grams with a diameter of 7–8 cm. The peel is light orange, thin, and rough to the touch. The flesh is yellow-orange in color, characterized by high juiciness and a balanced taste with an intense aroma.

This orange is primarily used fresh, as well as for making juices, fruit salads, marmalades, jellies, and liqueurs.
