The plant is a tree 4 to 5.5 meters tall with an upright crown that becomes spreading with age. The variety is widely used as a rootstock due to its resistance to viruses and root rot, but it is also grown as a fruit crop.
The fruits are yellow or yellow-orange in color and reach a weight of about 300 g. The pulp contains many seeds, is characterized by a sugar content of up to 18–19%, and has a taste reminiscent of grapefruit when fully ripened on the tree. The albedo of the fruits can have a pronounced bitterness. The plant is noted for its ability to reflower.
