The Honey mandarin, bred by H. B. Frost, is a hybrid of the Mediterranean mandarin and the King mandarin. The tree is characterized by vigorous upright growth and consistent fruiting. The fruits are small to medium, weighing 40–80 g, oblate, with a thin pebbly rind. The flesh is sweet, tender, and seeds are few or absent. The variety is early or mid-early.

The Murcott variety, which is a mandarin-orange hybrid, is often sold under the name Honey Tangerine. This is a tree with medium vigor, flexible branches, and a tendency toward alternate bearing. The variety is sensitive to cold and fungal diseases, and excessive yield can lead to tree exhaustion. The fruits are medium, with a tightly adhering rind and a rich sweet taste, maturing in late winter.
