Perennial deciduous woody vine with twining shoots, reaching 2.5–3 meters in height. Leaves are dark green, pinnate.

Flowers are typically double, 10–14 cm in diameter, reddish-pink in color with lavender undertones, a light center, and bright yellow stamens.

The variety belongs to pruning group 2 and the early large-flowered Clematis group. Flowering occurs in two stages: on last year's shoots and current year's shoots. Winter hardiness corresponds to zone 4a.
