The variety is a mutation of Clematis cirrhosa var. purpurascens 'Freckles'. The plant is vigorous, reaching a height of 3 to 6 meters, and requires supports for climbing. It belongs to pruning group 1; if necessary, pruning to restrict growth is performed after flowering has finished.

The flowers are 3–5 cm in diameter and have a bell shape. The variety is considered conditionally winter-hardy, suitable for cultivation in regions with a mild climate (USDA zones 7a–10b), and requires sheltered, wind-protected locations with well-drained soil. It is suitable for vertical gardening and container culture.
