The Blue River (Zoblueriver) variety belongs to the group of integrifolia clematis (Clematis integrifolia or diversifolia). The plant is of the bush type and does not have the ability to cling to a support on its own, reaching a height of about 1.5 m.

The flowers of this variety are star-shaped, small, 6–8 cm in size. During the flowering process, they change color: upon opening, they have a purple hue, which eventually lightens to a soft blue.
