The Eckige Barcelloner variety (also known as Barcelloner Eckige, Barcelloner Zellernuss, or Barcellonskaya uglovataya) presumably originates from Spain or Sicily. It was first mentioned in literature in 1797 in Christ's work "Handbuch über die Obstbaumzucht".
The fruits of this variety have an angular or knobby surface and an obovate shape, with a size of approximately 2 cm. The variety is included in genetic collections aimed at the conservation of rare hazelnut forms and is traditionally used in amateur and historical gardening for producing nuts suitable for fresh consumption and culinary purposes.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
