ActiveCorylus avellana L. · Common hazel
WEISSMANN (FR)
10 August 2026
The variety is a local form selected by farmers in Liguria and is a main component of the Misto Chiavari blend. The fruits are characterized by low weight and a long-cylindrical shape of both the nut and the kernel. The presence of double kernels and a thin, slightly corky shell is noted.
The plant is considered quite delicate and sensitive to drought compared to other local varieties. Precise data on maturity group, plant height, as well as quantitative indicators of resistance to diseases and lodging are not recorded in specialized publications.
