The plant is a tree or shrub with an upright crown and moderate vigor. The fruits are light brown in color with barely noticeable longitudinal grooves. The husk is equal in length to the nut and is heavily fringed.

The variety is self-sterile and requires the presence of pollinators, while also acting as a late pollinator. Fruit ripening occurs in mid- to late September. In some cases, a tendency to form hollow nuts and a low kernel percentage is noted.

The variety is often offered grafted onto Corylus colurna to improve adaptation. Due to inconsistent yield and fruit quality indicators, under modern conditions the variety is often considered obsolete for industrial use.
