This ecotype is genetically identical to the group of Sicilian varieties known as Siciliana and a number of other regional forms, such as Comune di Sicilia, Mansa, Nostrale, and Nocchione. Its distribution is due to historical vegetative propagation.

Nuts of this ecotype have one of the thickest shells among the studied varieties, with a thickness in the micropyle area reaching 1.02–1.25 mm. Due to this feature, the plant has high resistance to damage by the nut weevil.

Kernel yield is approximately 37.5%, with the oil content in the kernel reaching 63.73%. Biological characteristics correspond to the general type of Sicilian hazelnut populations, and the plant itself is used mainly for the preservation of local biodiversity.
