Variety description

The plant has a compact, branched habit. The leaves are colored red-purple throughout the season, changing to orange or reddish in autumn. Flowering occurs in May–June; the flowers are small, yellowish, and gathered in loose inflorescences on purple pedicels.

In July, the pedicels enlarge, forming fluffy dark red infructescences that persist until September. The variety is drought tolerant and fully winter hardy, but sensitive to heavy and waterlogged soils. The plant is susceptible to rust, leaf spot, and Verticillium wilt.

The variety is intended for landscape design and use as material for floristry due to its long and strong stems. To maintain shape and stimulate the growth of young shoots, regular pruning is recommended, including annual coppicing when grown for cut flowers.
