Variety description

The variety forms vigorous trees with a well-developed root system. The fruits have an average weight of 70–80 g, a flattened shape without a pronounced neck, and a short stalk. The skin is light-colored in the Blanca form and black or purple in the Negra form; the pulp is red, sweet, with a minimal internal cavity.

The variety does not require pollination by Blastophaga. The main crop begins to ripen from mid-August; breba is formed, but often does not mature. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, drying, and making jams. The Burjassot Negra variety is known in France under the name Violette de Solliès.
