The variety is self-fertile and belongs to the late or mid-late maturity groups. The tree can reach significant sizes, but it is suitable for cultivation as a container plant with growth restricted by the container volume. The first harvest (breba) is often absent in certain climatic zones.

The fruits have a mass of 40–65 g and a flattened or rounded shape. The skin is dark purple, sometimes with a characteristic pattern. The pulp is purple-red, sweet, and aromatic. In botanical reference books, the name Burjasot may refer to a group of varieties with different fruit colors, but the black-purple variety is the most common.
