The Fico d'Oro variety is a synonym for the Italian variety Gentile. First-crop fruits are large, oval-pyriform in shape with a distinct neck, skin color is green, transitioning to a yellowish hue. The fruit eye is large and open.

The variety produces two crops; however, fruits of the second crop are prone to premature shedding before reaching full maturity. In terms of characteristics, the variety is considered delicate; data on disease resistance is limited due to its historical and local status.
