Hivernenca represents a group of varieties originating from the Balearic Islands, which includes such varieties as De La Senyora, Lampiera 1, Can Planetes, Verdal Longue, Moro de Bou, Margalera, Coll de Dama Cuitat, Bergunya, Labritja and Ouriola. The plants have high vigor and a strong habit, demonstrating good adaptation to cool conditions at the end of the season.
The varieties of the group are uniferous and produce a crop mainly in September-October. The fruits are of medium or large size and have a pear-shaped or flattened shape. Upon ripening, the skin changes its shade from green-yellow to a combination of brown, purple and grey colors and is often prone to cracking. The ruby-colored pulp has an intense flavor with a combination of sweetness and acidity.
