Ischia group varieties are early or mid-early and are often capable of producing two harvests per season. The height of the trees or shrubs ranges from 2.5 to 5 meters. The plants adapt well to various conditions, including drought after establishment, but are sensitive to waterlogging.

Green Ischia fruits have a green skin that turns yellow upon ripening and a bright red sweet flesh. Black Ischia fruits possess a dark color and a honey-berry flavor. The harvest is suitable for fresh consumption, drying, and processing into jams and preserves.
