The variety is unifera, with a mass ripening period occurring in mid-August. The fruits are medium-sized, have a pronounced conical shape with ribs and a purple skin hue, on which longitudinal cracks may appear during ripening.

The flesh is white-violet in color, with a sweet taste with tropical notes and a non-granular consistency. The variety belongs to the common fig type, which does not require pollination. Under high humidity conditions, the fruits are prone to cracking and the development of mold in the ostiole area, so the variety develops better in a dry climate.

The variety is of ancient origin from the Apulia region, Italy, and exists in Marangiana Nera and Marangiana Bianca varieties. It is used primarily for fresh consumption, but is suitable for drying and processing into jams.
