MELANZANA

Active

Ficus carica L. Common fig · Fruit crops

also searched as: меланзана

Variety description

10 August 2026

The tree has moderate vigor, reaching 2–4 meters in height with a canopy up to 5 meters in diameter. The leaves are large, leathery, and divided into 3–5 lobes. The fruits have an elongated teardrop shape; the skin is colored purple-gray or brown-red, and the pulp is juicy and sweet.

The variety is quite productive and hardy, with relative resistance to temperatures down to -15°C with protection. In warm climates, two harvests are possible: the first wave matures in late June – July, and the main one from August to October.

The name "Melanzana" is a common folk name; therefore, various forms, including green-fruited ones, may be found under it. Some clones show a tendency for fruit drop under certain growing conditions.
