The variety is a local Portuguese cultivar, traditionally grown in the Algarve region, specifically in the area of Loulé. The plant is of the bifere type and produces two crops per season: the first as brebas and the second as autumn figs.
Breba fruits have a greenish skin color with purple spots. The autumn fig is characterized by a light yellow primary skin color without additional blush. The variety was historically used to produce dried fruits, which formed an important part of the regional economy.
