The variety is a traditional folk form of fig, widespread in Herzegovina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is classified as a single-crop variety (once-bearing), producing a crop of fruit once per season.

The plant is adapted to growing on sunny slopes with calcareous soils. In agronomic studies, the variety is considered part of regional agrobiodiversity, and the fruits are used in local husbandry for fresh consumption or processing.
