The Sušilica variety (also Sušalica) is a traditional plant common in Montenegro and Herzegovina. The variety is bifarious, meaning it is capable of producing two harvests per year. The name reflects its primary economic purpose — the processing of fruits in dried form.
Fruits of the Crna Sušilica type have a flat-pear shape; the average weight of the first harvest fruits is about 21.87 g. In scientific studies, the variety showed high resistance to fig mosaic disease, with only one virus, FBV-1, detected in samples.
The literature notes a high degree of synonymy among Balkan varieties. The names Sušilica, Sušalica, Sušioka, and Tenica in various sources may refer to the same or genetically close varieties.
