The variety was a spring barley and was in demand for the production of malt and whisky. Research from the 2000s noted the dependence of the variety's yield on soil tillage technology, where the use of no-till methods yielded lower results compared to traditional plowing.
In agronomic publications of that time, the variety was mentioned in comparative studies of resistance to diseases such as leaf blotch and powdery mildew. In 2005–2010, it was included in the lists of crops recommended for cultivation in the UK and Germany.
