The variety is a hybrid of orange Citrus × sinensis and trifoliate orange Poncirus trifoliata. The trees are medium-sized or large. The fruits are of medium size, have a round or slightly flattened shape and a yellow-orange color, and possess a sour and bitter taste.

The plant possesses high resistance to citrus tristeza virus, xyloporosis, and Phytophthora, and is characterized by good cold hardiness. At the same time, the variety is sensitive to exocortis, infection by the fungus Armillaria mellea, and high salt content in the soil.

The variety exhibits good compatibility with Navel and Valencia orange groups, but is incompatible with the Eureka lemon variety, which manifests in the formation of a ring at the graft union. In the professional environment, the Carrizo variety is considered practically identical to TROYER.
