The rootstock provides tree vigor at a level of 70–80% of the vigor on vigorous rootstocks such as Mahaleb cherry or wild cherry. Trees on this rootstock enter into fruiting in the 2nd–3rd year, reaching full productivity by the 5th year. The plants contribute to an increase in size, firmness, and sugar content of the fruits, do not produce abundant root suckers, and usually do not require permanent support.
The rootstock is moderately resistant to bacterial canker and some viral diseases. It is sensitive to waterlogging and heavy soils, which creates a risk of Phytophthora infection, and therefore requires well-drained sites. At the same time, it adapts well to various soil types, preferring fertile conditions with irrigation provided.
