The rootstock is an interspecific hybrid. Trees on it reach 45–60% of the size of trees on standard seedling rootstocks, which allows for high-density planting. The plant does not produce root suckers and requires support in the first years after planting.
The rootstock is characterized by winter hardiness and the ability to induce high yields. It is sensitive to drought and requires irrigation and fertile, well-aerated soils. It is susceptible to Phytophthora, Armillaria, and bacterial canker.
