The name Tiliaefolia in modern botanical classification acts as a synonym for the climbing hydrangea species. In horticulture, this name is used to denote the variety var. tiliifolia, which is characterized by smaller leaf blades compared to the typical form of the species.

The plant is a vigorous vine, reaching a height of 5–12 meters, capable of attaching to supports with the help of aerial roots. It has winter hardiness down to -23...-25°C and tolerates shading well. Flowering occurs in June-July with white fragrant inflorescences; it is used in vertical landscaping.
