Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a mutation of Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris. The main distinguishing feature is the leaves with a wide cream-yellow margin, which changes shade from bright yellow to chartreuse during the summer. The inflorescences are white, flat, of the 'lacecap' type, consisting of central fertile and marginal sterile flowers.

The plant is capable of reaching a height of 3 to 12 meters with the presence of a support to which it attaches by aerial roots. Without support, it can be grown as a shrub or a groundcover plant up to 1 meter in height. The bark of mature stems is brown and peeling.

Flowering occurs in late spring — early summer. The variety is winter-hardy and prefers moist and well-drained soils. The plant is valued as an ornamental foliage plant, maintaining its attractiveness throughout the season, and is used for decorating walls, fences, gazebos, and tree trunks.
