The bush is compact, dense, upright. In open field it reaches 1–1.5 m in height, in containers — 0.4–0.6 m. Leaves are glossy, dark green with a purple or brownish-burgundy hue and bright green veins.

Inflorescences are corymbose, 10–15 cm in diameter. The color of sterile flowers located along the edges varies from pink in alkaline soil to blue or purple in acidic. The flowering period lasts from June to September.

The plant prefers semi-shaded locations and moist, drained soils. Winter hardiness is estimated at approximately up to -17°C. Used for landscaping, planting in containers and creating accent groups.
