Variety description

Deciduous shrub with a compact rounded crown and upright shoots reaching a height of 0.8–1.5 m, or about 0.4 m in containers. The plant forms large spherical inflorescences 15–25 cm in diameter. The flowering period lasts from June to September or until the onset of frost.

The color of the flowers depends on the soil pH level: on acidic soils they turn blue, blue-violet or lilac, and on alkaline soils they become pink or red. By autumn, the inflorescences acquire a saturated red hue. The variety is resistant to diseases, has a winter hardiness level of USDA 6 (down to -17…-23 °C), and requires covering in harsh climatic conditions.

The plant is used as a solitaire, in group plantings, for hedges and for cultivation in containers. The flower stalks are suitable for cutting and for use as dried flowers.
