Variety description

The shrub is medium-sized, reaching 1–1.5 m in height and width. Inflorescences are spherical, large, 15–18 cm in diameter. In the base variety Merveille, the flower color changes from pink to blue depending on soil acidity; in the mutation Merveille Sanguine, the flowers are dark red or violet-purple.

The foliage of the Merveille Sanguine variety changes shade from bronze-green in spring to dark violet in summer and dark red in autumn. Stems are sturdy. The flowering period lasts from July to September, sometimes until October.

The plant is thermophilic, frost resistance is up to -20°C, it requires winter covering and protection from bright midday sun. The variety is suitable for single and group plantings, creating massifs, and container cultivation.
