The variety was mentioned in materials of French horticultural societies at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, sometimes in the context of the work of breeder Émile Mouillère. Historically, the name was also applied to varieties of sweet cherry and lilac, which creates a risk of identification confusion.

In old horticultural reviews, the variety was considered as an ornamental plant for garden or greenhouse cultivation. Modern professional reference books and registers of breeding achievements do not contain detailed morphological or agronomic descriptions of this variety.
