The plant is a compact, dense shrub 1–1.2 m in height and width. The foliage is large, serrated, and dark green. Flowering is prolonged, covering the period from July to September or October.
Inflorescences are large and spherical. Flower color depends on soil acidity: in acidic soils they acquire a violet or blue-purple shade, in neutral ones — dark pink. The variety is suitable for borders, group and solitary plantings, as well as for container cultivation and cut flowers.
The hydrangea blooms on previous year's shoots. It is characterized as a hardy variety, although in regions with severe winters it requires proper agrotechnics and covering.
