The plant is a compact shrub 80–100 cm in height. Hemispherical inflorescences reach a diameter of 10–15 cm, with medium-sized flowers. Leaves are dark green, oval or elliptical with serrated edges.

The variety has the property of changing color: from lime green to pinkish-red or burgundy, with a possible return to green in autumn. On acidic soils, the inflorescences can acquire violet-pink shades.

The crop prefers semi-shaded or shaded areas protected from wind and direct sunlight, as well as moist, humus-rich soils. Winter hardiness is estimated at about -15°C; in cold regions, covering or container cultivation is required.
