The plant belongs to evergreen shrubs, which are characterized by leathery, often glossy leaves. Like other representatives of the species, this variety is dioecious, therefore the presence of male and female individuals is required for fruit formation.

In landscape design, the shrubs are used for solitary plantings, groups, or the creation of hedges. Plants of this species are considered wind-resistant and are capable of growing both in sun and in partial shade.
