The Axel variety tree features a characteristic narrow and upright crown, which allows for its use in small gardens, as well as for planting along alleys and streets. At maturity, the plant height reaches 10–15 meters. The variety belongs to hardiness zone 5b and is capable of withstanding temperatures down to –23...–26 °C.
Vegetation of the variety begins early, which creates a risk of damage by late spring frosts during the flowering period in May. The variety enters fruiting at a young age when vegetatively propagated. The fruits are distinguished by their very large size, and the variety can be grown both for harvest and for timber production.
