The Mint Julep variety is a hybrid of Juniperus chinensis and Juniperus sabina. The plant has a spreading shape with arching, raised and gracefully drooping shoots forming tiers. By the age of 10, the shrub height is about 1.5 m with a width of 2–3 m; at maturity, dimensions increase to 1.5–2.5 m in height and 3–4 m in diameter.
The needles of the variety are predominantly scale-like, less often needle-like, of a saturated bright green or lemon-green shade, retaining color during the winter period. The plant is drought-tolerant and tolerates air pollution, however, it requires avoiding heavy waterlogged soils due to the risk of root rot. In regions with heavy snowfall, damage to branches from snow load is possible.
