The butterhead lettuce variety Daguan (breeding number S 5601) forms large, dense, closed-type heads with light green leaf color. The crop is suitable for cultivation in both open fields and greenhouses and is oriented towards fresh market sales.
The plant possesses resistance to European races of downy mildew (Bremia lactucae Bl: 16–20, 22–24, 27–28, 30–32), tomato bushy stunt virus (TBSV), and intermediate resistance to lettuce mosaic virus (LMV 1).
The variety is used in agronomic research as a model object for evaluating the impact of plant protection products and studying the development of vegetable crops. In breeding programs, Daguan is used as initial genetic material for developing lines with complex pest resistance.
