Variety description

The variety is a compact deciduous shrub 1.6–2.0 m tall with a crown width of about 1.5 m. The plant has dark green glossy leaves that turn yellow-orange and red shades in autumn, as well as ornamental smooth peeling bark.

The flowering period lasts from July to October, during which time dense panicles with saturated purple-red flowers are formed. The stated winter hardiness is down to –15 °C when planted in protected locations with drainage.

Cultivation requires a sunny location and fertile, well-drained soil. The variety is suitable for landscape groupings and container cultivation; at the end of winter, it is recommended to perform short pruning to 3–5 buds to stimulate growth and abundant flowering.
