The variety has a number of synonyms, such as Schöner von Lunow, Lunower Apfel and Luunscher Appel. Historically, the apple tree was grown both in commercial meadow orchards and for table use. The trees are distinguished by early and abundant fruiting, demonstrating resilience in local climatic conditions.

The fruits are large, light-yellow in color with a characteristic striped blush on the sun-exposed side. The flesh is firm and refreshing, with a distinct wine-tart taste. The consumption period falls in the winter months and early spring, spanning the time from December to April.
