The fruits are small, flattened, with five distinct ribs resembling a star. The skin is firm, waxy, and colored light green or golden yellow with a pink blush. The flesh is dense, crunchy, cream-colored, and has a sweet-and-sour taste and aroma.

The trees are vigorous, with long, thin branches prone to breakage under the weight of the crop. The variety belongs to late maturity groups. Due to the firm skin, the apples store well. Historically, the variety has been used for desserts, cider making, and decorative purposes.
