The Apfel von Halder variety, also known as Apfel aus Halder, belongs to the late apple varieties. In specialized literature, the variety is mentioned as an ancient one, known before 1843, with a probable origin in the Netherlands.
The fruits of the apple tree possess a sweet-wine taste. Due to an insufficiently attractive color, the variety did not become widespread in commercial horticulture and is recommended primarily for cultivation in espalier form. The variety is included in genetic resource lists and "Red Lists" as historical cultural heritage.
