The APPIA variety is considered one of the oldest known apple varieties, historically associated with mentions in the works of Pliny the Elder. In modern pomology, there are discussions about a possible connection or confusion of this variety with the French variety Api, also known as Lady Apple.
The tree has a medium level of vigor and reaches a height of 4 to 8 meters. The medium or large-sized fruits are characterized by yellow-green skin with a red blush and creamy-white, firm, crunchy flesh with a sweet taste.
The variety is late-winter, with fruits ripening at the end of October. The plant shows resistance to low temperatures in the range of -15...-20°C and is self-fertile. It is traditionally used as a dessert variety, maintaining popularity in collections of autochthonous species.
