The rootstock is characterized by very weak growth vigor; trees on it reach only 30–50% of the size of trees on the B.9 rootstock. The wood of the rootstock has a characteristic pinkish hue, produces few root suckers and burr knots on the trunk.

Due to the brittleness of the wood and a weak root system, trees grafted onto this rootstock require mandatory support. The variety possesses high winter hardiness, yet it is characterized by susceptibility to Phytophthora and fire blight.

In modern practice, the use of the rootstock is limited due to its excessive dwarfness and insufficient resistance to diseases. In a number of regions, it was deemed unsuitable for commercial horticulture and is used primarily in breeding programs.
